2021年は、気候変動が原因と思われる風水害、山火事等が世界的に多数発生しましたが、一方でESG/SDGsに対する関心も急速に高まりました。EUが発表した「European Green Deal」を受け、すべての業界でサステイナブルに対する取り組みが本格化していますが、ここでは、カード業界の取組みをまとめてみました。
■ カード会社の環境問題に対する取組み
カード・ネットワーク大手のVISAとMasterCardは、これまで環境問題への取組みとして、オフィスにおけるリニューアブル・エネルギーの導入を進め、また2040年までのCO2排出ゼロを宣言している（MasterCardは2050年まで）。一方、昨今では消費者が「自分のライフスタイルをサステイナブルにしたい」「個人としてサステイナブルに貢献したい」などの志向を強めていることから、それに合致するカード・サービスの提供が始まっている。
■ サステイナブル素材
世界規模でみると、クレジットカード/デビットカードなどの「プラスティック」カードは、約250億枚が流通しており、毎年50億枚程度が新規に発行（更新カードも含む）されている。この分野に対しては、再生素材やバイオグレーダブル素材、金属などを利用したカードの発行が始まっている。
カード更新時のリサイクルに関しての論議も始まっている。カード郵送時の環境負荷削減や、更に踏み込んで、サステイナブルの観点から新規カード発行はデジタルを基本とし、物理カードをオプションとする考え方も登場している。このようなアプローチは、ミレニアル世代に限らず広い顧客層にアピールすると思われ、今後の取組みが期待される。

That being said, pitfalls and challenges can impede your organization’s path to successfully implementing the Agile methodology. Clearly defining each individual’s responsibilities and adapting Agile to your organization’s existing culture gives your team the best chance of success.

Despite the continuing pandemic, the end of 2021 brought hope with it. Many offices began to reopen, and more people felt that they could socialize more freely with loved ones. And throughout all the ups and downs of COVID-19, capital markets continued to innovate, offer new products, and monetize change.

Like other industries, wealth management organizations have dedicated much of the last two years to mitigating the effects of the pandemic. But as we enter 2022, the wealth management industry needs to look toward the future and prioritize keeping up with this quickly changing market.
