Digitization has had profound impacts on how those institutions, their customers and financial criminals interact. As digital innovations have emerged and as consumers and corporates have migrated to digital channels in record numbers, financial institutions have amplified investment in security controls to counter the growth in both the volume and sophistication of attackers.
Financial institutions have fortified the security of their digital borders, however, the fraudsters have sought to compensate by automating their attacks and by expanding their efforts to attack the end-user of those services by way of scams. The next great challenge for financial institutions and their customers will be to find ways to collaborate more effectively to mitigate these risks and to protect them from the worst kind of client experience, becoming a victim of a fraudster’s scam.
