Sizing E-Bill Adoption in the United States
E-bills are gaining traction, but adoption varies by generation and bill category.
Boston, April 24, 2014 – Americans paid more than 16.3 billion bills in 2013, nearly half through digital channels—that's more than double the number of bills paid through the mail. From 2010 to 2013, digital bill payments grew from 37% of all bills paid to 49%. But despite e-bill growth, consumers still receive stacks of paper bills. Which consumers choose e-bills? And how can billers get consumers to turn off paper?
Based on a Q2 2013 Aite Group survey of 1,242 U.S. consumers, this Impact Note sizes the prevalence of electronic bills by type of bill and consumer demographic.
This 15-page Impact Note contains 14 figures and two tables. Clients of Aite Group's Retail Banking & Payments service can download this report.
