Securitized Fixed Income Vendors: Adapting to Changing Fundamentals
The robustness of product functionalities and the scope and depth of asset-type coverage will determine the path of securitized fixed income analytics vendors.
Boston, March 15, 2012 – A new report from Aite Group surveys the vendor landscape serving securitized fixed income analytics and reviews the issues impacting the underlying fundamentals of secured finance.
The global securitized fixed income markets are still working through trillions of U.S. dollars of distressed assets whose proper analysis must take into account changing fundamentals. In order to properly analyze the vast array of securitized products, interested parties must have the ability to look through the deals and into the underlying collateral. Asset-side cash flows must then be directed to the correct liabilities to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of the bonds. This analytical approach is a fundamental departure from how unsecured debt is analyzed, and it requires specialized analytics and deep collateral information.
“Entering into 2012, market participants of securitized products have started to take matters more firmly into their own hands, especially those aspects relating to security and portfolio analyses,” says John Jay, senior analyst with Aite Group and author of this report. “Security and deal transparency must be taken to deep granularity, and their application must be properly captured for correct ex-ante capital-at-risk analysis. This focus is driven not only by regulatory fiat, but also by economic necessity and a changing securitized debt marketplace.”
The report profiles the following vendors: Bloomberg, Intex Solutions Inc., Lewtan, Moody’s, Standard & Poor’s, and Trepp.
