December 2019 – Female leaders come to insurance technology on a variety of paths and bring distinctive capabilities that help carriers succeed. They also face several challenges, including being stereotyped and a lack of access to executive relationships. Mentorship and support, communication, and an eye on the future can all help women succeed in a traditionally male-dominated role.
This brief highlights some of the challenges that female insurance leaders face as well as some opportunities for growth. It’s based on the direct experience of the authors and a series of conversations with female IT leaders at insurers.
