February 8, 2023 – Many fraud executives struggle with how to place fraud in the context of the larger, more complex ecosystem of market forces in which their institutions exist. They ponder over the degree to which fraud is as big of a challenge as it is often made out to be. Recent changes to the trajectory of fraud trends are influencing these musings in ways that suggest that fraud is, in fact, a problem that is much more deserving of attention than many thought.

This report examines these changes to the trajectory of fraud trends and how they impact FIs in their struggle to balance losses with client experience, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. It is based on an Aite-Novarica Group survey of 34 U.S. fraud executives who attended Aite-Novarica Group’s Financial Crime Forum in September 2022.
