Cyberthreats: Multiplying Like Tribbles
Report Summary
Cyberthreats: Multiplying Like Tribbles
Threats are escalating more quickly than banks or businesses can deploy defenses against them.
Boston, October 8, 2013 – Just like tribbles, the furry but problematic little creatures of Star Trek lore, the cyberthreats that menace the global economy are multiplying at an alarming rate. Unlike the cute, cuddly tribbles, however, cyberthreats constitute malicious software code, hacking attacks, and other mechanisms designed to provide financial or political benefit to criminals. The threat environment is moving fast, and organizations need to make the cost of breaching their security more trouble than their data is worth.
This Impact Report by research director Julie Conroy and senior analyst Shirley Inscoe provides an overview of the threat environment for financial institutions and merchants and presents current and planned solutions to cyberthreats. The report is based on conversations that Aite Group had with more than 100 banks, retailers, vendors, and investigators in the cybersecurity space from August 2012 to July 2013.
This 35-page Impact Report contains nine figures and seven tables. Clients of Aite Group's Fraud & AML service can download the report .
