Report Summary
Biller Direct + Walk-In Bill Payments Update
Bill payments processed via biller direct and walk-in channels and consolidator Web sites reached 5.5 billion in 2009, up from 4 billion in 2006.
Boston, MA, January 25, 2010 – A new report from Aite Group, LLC provides an update on the progress achieved by leading biller direct and walk-in bill payment vendors in the United States over the past few years. The report is based on surveys and estimated transaction data for 10 biller direct vendors.
The biller direct and walk-in bill payment market remains heavily dominated by in-house processing, although third-party vendors have carved a niche in handling Web, call-center/IVR, walk-in, and kiosk-originated payments. Vendors have strong organic growth opportunities from consumers and small businesses shifting from paper to electronic payments, as evidenced by the growth of bill payments processed via the biller direct and walk-in channels.
"The vendor marketplace remains very fragmented, leaving room for further consolidation," says Gwenn Bézard, research director with Aite Group and author of this report.
Vendors mentioned in the report include Alacriti, BNY Mellon, FIS, Fiserv, IPP of America, JPMorgan Chase, Kubra, MoneyGram, Online Resources, Oracle, Tier Technologies, and Western Union.
